Management Team

Mel Schatz, President and CEO

Mel has spent over 30 years in the healthcare field. He spent 10 years in a variety of sales and marketing positions with Marion Laboratories. During a 15 year period at Abbott Laboratories, he held senior management positions with the Diagnostic Division, including 7 years in Japan, where he held the position of Vice President, Asia Pacific. From 1997-2001, he managed Medtronic’s Peripheral Vascular business that included responsibility for the AneuRx® AAA device. He was formerly President and CEO of Bacchus Vascular Inc., prior to joining Crux Biomedical. He holds a BS in Economics from the U. of Maryland and an MBA from Rockhurst College.


Eric Johnson, V.P. of R&D

Eric previously worked in the endovascular division of Medtronic Vascular as a Sr. Research and Development Engineer for 5 years on key development projects for the AneuRx abdominal aortic aneurysm stent graft. He holds a BA in Biology from Colby College and a MS in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College.


Murli Srinivasan, Director of Operations

Murli has over 12 years of experience in the medical device field in a variety of engineering and manufacturing management positions. He was previously employed at Evalve Inc. (a developer of a new cardiovascular therapy) and W.L. Gore & Associates. Murli holds a MS degree in Industrial Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and a BS degree in Engineering from Bangalore University.


Elisa Hebb, VP of Clinical & Regulatory Affairs

Elisa Hebb joined Crux in May 2008 as Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs with over 15 years of experience in clinical trials management for medical device companies. Prior to joining Crux, Ms. Hebb held the position of Senior Principal Consultant for Alquest, Inc., supporting clinical and regulatory departments in a variety of therapeutic areas including cardio, neuro, and peripheral vascular devices. Additionally, she has served as Vice President of Clinical Affairs for Apneon, Senior Director of Clinical Affairs for Vascular Architects and Director of Clinical Programs for Boston Scientific (Electrophysiology Group). Ms. Hebb holds a BA in Biology from the University of California at Berkeley.


Chris Schaffer, CFO

Chris is currently CFO of Fogarty Engineering. In this role he supports several start-ups, including Crux Biomedical and the recently formed Emergent Medical Venture Fund. He served as CFO of Sleep Solutions, a privately held firm in the sleep apnea arena. He spent 4 years at Arthur Andersen prior to Sleep Solutions. Chris has his CPA and BA in Business from Bowling Green University.


Michael Nketiah, Quality Manager

Michael has over 11 years of experience in the medical device field. He was previously employed at Evalve Inc. , Thoratec Corporation, Cardima Inc. and Boston Scientific. Michael holds a BS in Chemistry from Midwestern Sate University and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from San Jose State University.
